Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) are useful for application that rely on structured light. Structuring of light is generally done by interfering multiple optical paths and controlling and manipulating the phase of the light. This way interference patterns are created that have a high accuracy and that can be made to move, without any mechanically moving parts in the system.
Applications are found in automotive where optical-phased-arrays (OPAs) are used in LIDAR applications as well in microscopy metrology and vision systems.
Our TriPleX based PICs for structured light have the benefit to work as well for wavelengths in the visible range (400-700nm) up to 2350nm due to the wide transparency range of silicon-nitride.
Our hybrid assembly technology, capable to integrate bare semiconductor lasers to the Photonic IC, allow to integrate the laser source with the structured light system as well. This is required in applications with limited space, like automotive as well as metrology systems.
