LioniX International welcomes Dr Peter Maat as Group Leader for Integrated Microwave Photonics Group
We’re delighted to welcome Dr Peter Maat to LioniX International as Group leader for our Integrated Microwave Photonics Group. The Group’s impactful work in integrated photonic beamforming and signal processing serves key applications in next generation communications systems. Peter brings over 25 years of experience to the role including senior R+D positions in leading commercial organizations working on the development and deployment of innovative integrated photonic components.
After a Master’s in applied physics at the University of Groningen and his PhD in Integrated Photonics at Delft Technical University, Peter worked on source lasers, SOAs and photonic integrated circuit technology at JDS Uniphase Eindhoven. At ASTRON, he developed and deployed optical data and timing transfer systems for world class research telescopes. More recently as a project leader at ASTRON he was responsible for research and innovation in photonic phased array technology.
At LioniX International Peter will continue to develop the Integrated Microwave Photonics Group’s strategic R+D capabilities through a range of high-profile Dutch and European projects with commercial and university partners, as such working towards innovative integrated photonics products. Peter and his group will play a vital role in innovation for next generation communications systems, a sector in which we believe integrated photonics has huge potential. We’re very pleased that Peter is applying his deep expertise and passion for integrated photonic systems development at LioniX International – We wish him all the best in his new role!
